Telnet

Telnet clients are used to interact with remote machines connected over the internet or a LAN that support the TELNET protocol. Using a Telnet client (which might take the appearance of a black terminal with white text), a user can, for example, instruct a remote machine to shutdown and restart. Telnet has for the most part been replaced with the more secure SSH protocol.
